Guest Speaker Session: Exploring the Future of Money with Klaus Wiemann

19.09.2024

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Klaus Wiemann, the Regional Head of Private Customers Zurich at Migros Bank, to our campus as part of our ongoing guest speaker series. His presentation, titled “The Value of Money – How Do We Use It Today and Tomorrow”, provided our students with a unique opportunity to delve into the complex world of finance and explore important questions about the future of money.

Mr Wiemann's talk covered a wide range of thought-provoking topics, sparking insightful discussions among our students. Some of the key topics included:

  • Budgeting: Students were challenged to think about their personal spending habits, reflecting on how much they spend per week or month. They were also asked to consider the financial cost of the first 20 years of their lives and the impact that has on family finances.

  • The Value and Cycle of Money: Mr Wiemann introduced the concept of the money cycle, highlighting the flow of money within economies, and how its value can shift in today's interconnected global markets.

  • The Future of Banking: One of the most engaging parts of the discussion focused on whether traditional banks will be needed in the future. As digital money and banking continue to rise, students debated the role that banks will play in a world increasingly dominated by technology and virtual transactions.

This session was not only informative but also highly interactive, encouraging students to think critically about their financial future and the evolving landscape of digital banking. At Lucerne International School, we are committed to providing our students with valuable real-world insights through such engaging sessions with experts from various fields.

We are grateful to Mr Wiemann for his time and expertise, and we look forward to more such opportunities to broaden our students' understanding of the world beyond the classroom.
